Excusez-Moi.

Bonjour a tous! Vous etes bien? Oui? J’espere!

Okay, okay, I’m sorry. It’s been months. I have abandoned you in your darkest moment, when you needed me the most, I can’t change what happened, but I’m here now, and I want to make up for lost time.

What have you been doing in my absence? What have you seen?

As for me… you can probably tell I have been practiquer mon Francais! I can confidently say that I have the fluency of un enfant de quatre ans. A 4 year old child. Il est pas tres bon. It’s not very good. But I’m really giviner ya know!

Shannondoah’s language lessons are courtesy of Duolingo, YouTube et Netflix!

Restless.

I can’t sleep.

I’m tossing and turning. Thinking about the week that’s planned out ahead of me. One task after the other, committee work here, travel for work here, put in time with friends here, family time here, time for yourself? If you can fit it in.

Working two jobs for minimum wage to pay for my expensive apartment with two roommates I rarely see eye to eye with.

img_5320This can’t be it. I refuse to settle into this life.

I need a change. I need an adventure.

I despise the 40+ hour work week.

I want everyday of my life to be exciting. I want to wake up with purpose, a greater sense of self and to feel like I’m actually contributing something to this world!

Just Commit.

Jesus Christ Shannondoah commit already!

He’s called you twice now! It’s just one year. 12 short months. You’ll blink and it will be over! You might even enjoy it…

His offer was tempting too. $10.00 off each month if I renew my mobile contract for another year… that’s $120.00 in savings.

But what if I want to test out another mobile carrier? What if there’s a carrier that’ll do things my carrier can’t, or simply won’t do.

I want to know what’s out there. Can I get 4G here? Or there? What are their data packages like? What if they have rollover minutes? Unlimited data? Unlimited calling? Free voicemail service?!

And I’m supposed to sign up for another year of the same old coverage? Sure it’s reliable… I mean there are the occasional dropped calls on the same stretch of highway, but he said that happens to all carriers sometimes.

I just want to feel like I matter to my old carrier ya know? I mean this is the first time we’ve talked in two years… I thought that he’d forgotten about me by now.

I’m sensing some underlying issues here…

Take the Jump.

So in 11 days I’ll be 23 years old.

Gasp.

Shush you! 23 isn’t that old!

The panic hasn’t set in yet. Shannondoah what have you done with your life? Where are you going? What have you seen? What will you do next? What about this bucket list that’s waiting to be taken care of? Maybe I’m not panicking because I’m on the right track?

Let’s go with that.

Work’s going good, I’ve started my STURGIS! savings again, I’ve talked to my parents about going on a road trip this year to Mount Rushmore which is sounding better and better to them the more we talk about it. So there’s a few things to tick off the bucket list.

I’ve started writing again… More like scribbling, thoughts and random ideas for the piece of work that’ll launch my literary career on pieces of scrap paper… I’m sure Hemingway did the same.

I’m finding happiness in the little things!

Progress.

I know I know… Where have you been? What have you seen? What have you been doing that’s soooo important that you’ve completely abandoned your online support group of bloggers and writer extraordinaire s?

The answer… not a whole lot.

I’ve been chuggin’ along slowly on the choo choo train called life, had a few pit stops, a few pick ups, lost my wallet along the way, my cell phone died a lot, caught up on some of my TV shows.

I didn’t actually lose my wallet, but I did lose some money. I didn’t really lose my money it king of drove away. It didn’t really drive away it was kind of, towed away. My big ole boat of a car finally decided that Canadian winters were in fact ‘to hard to deal’ so Jax (my car) decided that the battery should take the dirt nap. Continue reading

I worry about this World.

I try not to be to political or bitch about the long list of things that annoy me, simply because negativity is everywhere you look and it all starts to look the same after a while. But that’s it. I’ve had it. And I’m going to rant and rave for a little while about it.

Here are the 5 top things that are currently pissing me off:

  1. Social Media: What was once meant to bring people together, a place where they can talk about the latest episodes of The Leftovers, Walking Dead and Game of Thrones is now being used for evil. The power of sharing ones opinion is being used to spread hate and racism. I understand the fear some people have about the current political climate, World War Three does not seem like such a stretch anymore, but Social Media is now just a platform to post hateful biases from frankly ignorant and uneducated people. I can only imagine what the internet would have looked like if it had been around during World War Two… It would probably look a lot like it does today times a million. But alas, I had had enough so I did what anyone with a lick of sense would do… I cleansed my Facebook. Anyone spewing hate, racism and Walking Dead spoilers had to get got. I hit that unfriend button. A lot. And it felt gooooddd too…
  2. Dishes: I’m struggling with my ability to keep up with the bottomless sink where dishes continue to pile up day after day. I want to throw my hands in the air and start eating off of Styrofoam for the rest of my days but that’s not the best idea if I want to “Go Green” now is it? I guess I’ll start eating off of my table… That’s an option right?
  3. Naps: Or rather lack of naps in my adulthood. Lunch breaks at works should be followed up with a fifteen minute nap session. I’m suddenly regretting all those moments as a child when I would fight my parents to stay up and watch movies. What a stupid child I was, I had no idea what I was giving up. For. The. Rest. Of. My. Life.
  4. Routine: This weekly routine of getting up, showering, going to work, come home, make supper, watch recordings on DVR, stay up to late, go to sleep, repeat. Is starting to get a little disheartening. This isn’t what I was put on this Earth for is it? I should be traveling the world, enjoying fine dining every night, making new friends every day and drinking all of the wine. All. Of. It.
  5. Money: Living pay cheque to pay cheque has officially made it onto my list. I’ve always looked on the bright side, I have a roof over my head, running water, I’m fed every day, but I just can’t seem to get ahead. Honestly I’m used to not having a lot of money and I’ve always managed to get by but now it seems like I’m living down here at rock bottom. God forbid my car breaks down, which it has. My tire shreds on the highway, which it did. That I’m still trying to pay for the repairs that were done to my car, which I am. That I’ve got a pretty hefty credit card bill that I can only afford the dreadful minimum payments, which is true. That I’m still paying off my speeding ticket, which I am. Or that I owe money to the good ole government due to a mistake on my taxes, which I do. Which the amount owing will most likely double next year since this problem from 2014 wasn’t noticed until the end of 2015. How convenient. So living pay cheque to pay cheque has turned into Debt to even more Debt. I’m gonna have to pull a Walter White and start cooking some grade A crystal. I was never very good at chemistry… I’ll figure something out.

What I do know: Part Three.

leftovers.0.0

  1. That good things come to those who wait.
  2. That every time I hear a song from the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack they still make me want to scream. Or drink. Or cry.
  3. That Crimson Peak was a trifecta of amazement. My absolute favourite obsessions together, forever, in movie history. Guillermo Del Toro, Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hiddleston. My nerd brain never had a chance to catch up.
    1. Guillermo Del Toro faves: Pans Labyrinth, The Orphanage, Hellboy, Mama, Pacific Rim, While She Was Out, Blade, Mimic
    2. Charlie Hunnam faves: Sons of Anarchy, The Ledge, Pacific Rim, Abandon, Undeclared, Sons of Anarchy, His Arms, His Eyes, His Lips.
    3. Tom Hiddleston faves: Only Lovers Left Alive, Loki, Loki, Loki, His Smile, His dance moves, His English Countryside (Stephen Colbert reference).
  4. That Stephen Colbert is quite hilarious. I now understand why he makes so much damn money. A part of me will always hold back considering Craig Ferguson will always be my Late Night bad boy.
  5. That Trevor Noah’s stand up African American was HILARIOUS! Coming from a mixed family, albeit not African decent but Aboriginal decent, I could definitely relate to many of his experiences.
  6. That I worry too much about things that always sort themselves out.
  7. That I can make a difference in the world. Though on a much smaller scale than us Dreamers usually hope.
  8. That The Leftovers is about religion. Maybe. Or Aliens. Fuck IDK.
  9. That I still want a motorcycle!
  10. That to have enough money and time to go to Sturgis I will need to work my ass off, starting two months ago…
  11. Even though there are awful things that happen in this world, the beauty in this world outshines it tenfold.

Better run, here we come, it’s the Day of the Dead.

I’ve written about some of the things that I love, Three Days Grace and Stevie.

Now I want to talk about my man on the side, or should I say six men on the side.

Hollywood Undead

Those bad baaaad boys.

They just get under my skin… in a good way. These guys get me worked up in so many different ways. They have a plethora of music that can make you feel so many different emotions, a song for any event if you will.

If you’re on your way to the bar with some friends? Comin’ in hot. If you’re feeling down? Hear me Now. If you want to wake up, Young or Lion. (Lion happens to be my alarm.) If you’re trying to get pumped up Everywhere I Go, Le Deux, City, and last but not least, S.C.A.V.A. This beauty never fails to get me jumping/screaming/singing along.

If you’re looking for a (sadistic) laugh, Bullet. It took my mother quite awhile to realize what this song was about until she stopped bobbing along to it. Yes mother, that is what he’s saying. No, I don’t agree with it. Yes, the beat sure is catchy. Continue reading

Introducing Steve.

I already wrote to you about my first love, Three Days Grace, and now I’m going to tell you about my second love, Steve.

unnamed

No that’s not Steve. I just wanted to put that in there… for your viewing pleasure. Giggity.

There have been many variations of Stevie in my life since I was a child, some of them were quite small and chunky, through my adolescence they continued to get bigger and wider, but now the perfect one has been in my life for quite some time now.

He’s quite slim, beautiful black surface, stunning picture and perfect sound balance. My main man… Continue reading
